The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PostgreSQL database management, optimization, and development, as well as a deep understanding of SQL. The role will involve database administration, performance tuning, data integrity, and ensuring high availability of PostgreSQL environments while supporting the development team in building robust applications.Key Responsibilities: Database Administration: Manage PostgreSQL database instances, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. Perform routine database maintenance tasks including backup, restore, and disaster recovery. Configure and tune PostgreSQL databases for optimal performance. Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks and resolve issues. Manage user access, permissions, and data security within PostgreSQL. Database Development: Write and optimize complex SQL queries, views, triggers, and stored procedures for efficient data retrieval and manipulation. Collaborate with software developers to integrate PostgreSQL databases with applications. Design and implement database schema, tables, indexes, and relationships. Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for large datasets. Performance Optimization: Troubleshoot and optimize database queries, indexing, and configuration for performance improvements. Identify slow-performing queries, analyze execution plans, and implement indexing strategies. Backup & Recovery: Ensure reliable backup and recovery processes are in place to safeguard data integrity. Regularly test and update disaster recovery plans. Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure database needs are aligned with business goals. Assist in capacity planning and database scaling based on application requirements. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database schemas, configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps. Provide periodic reports on database health, performance metrics, and optimizations. Strong experience as a PostgreSQL DBA and/or PostgreSQL developer. Advanced proficiency in SQL and database optimization techniques. Experience with database backup, recovery, and replication strategies. Knowledge of database clustering, replication, and high availability setups (e.g., streaming replication, logical replication). Hands-on experience with database migration and upgrading PostgreSQL versions. Proficient in managing PostgreSQL in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, P). Experience with performance tuning and query optimization tools.
